Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) encompass the developmental disorders of autism, Asperger’s syndrome, childhood disintegrative disorder, and other pervasive developmental disorders. Some children have mild symptoms, and others have severe symptoms. These disorders begin in childhood, persist throughout adulthood, and affect three crucial areas of development: communication, social interaction, and restricted patterns of behavior.

While there is no cure for autism spectrum disorders, intensive, early treatment can make a big difference in the lives of many children.

Treatments

Every child or adult with autism is unique, and there are a variety of treatments that may be appropriate given each situation. Many people with autism also have additional medical conditions that have to be taken into consideration.

At the Yang Institute, each treatment plan for autism is carefully tailored to address each person’s specific needs.
