Integrative Care for Children with Autism

Welcome to the Integrative Mental Health Program for Children at the Yang Institute of Integrative Medicine, where we are dedicated to providing comprehensive and personalized care for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), depression, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, PTSD, OCD, and other mental health conditions.

Our program is meticulously designed to transform lives by offering a holistic and integrative approach to treatment.

At Yang Institute, we recognize the uniqueness of each child with ASD, and our approach is tailored accordingly. Our compassionate team conducts thorough evaluations, delving into cognitive, emotional, and social functioning to develop personalized treatment plans that address the specific needs of your child. We understand that ASD often co-occurs with other mental health conditions, and our integrated care is adept at managing the full spectrum of your child's needs.

What is the integrative approach?

At  Yang Institute, we combine conventional therapies with complementary and alternative interventions to address the complex needs of individuals with ASD and other co-occurring conditions.

Our integrative approach includes:

  1. Nutrient Therapies:  We recognize the impact of balanced and sufficient nutrients on brain health and overall well-being. Our individualized nutrient therapies target nutritional deficiencies and biochemical imbalances, incorporating omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, specific vitamins, and minerals.
  2. Gut-Brain Connection: Children or adults  with ASD may experience gastrointestinal issues or imbalances in gut microbiota. We address the Gut-Brain connection, utilizing strategies to support gut health through probiotics, prebiotic-rich foods, and dietary modifications to address food sensitivities or intolerance.. The goal is to optimize gut health, which may positively influence behavioral and cognitive symptoms.
  3. Dietary modifications: We offer dietary counseling, including gluten-free, casein-free (GFCF) diets for individuals with sensitivities to these substances found in wheat and dairy products, as some ASD patients may experience food sensitivities that can impact their well-being.
  4. Conventional Therapies: We utilize evidence-based therapies from conventional medicine, including medication management for symptom relief and various treatments to improve behavior and social skills.
  5. Complementary and Alternative Approaches: Our comprehensive treatment may include acupuncture, herbal remedies, and other energy-based modalities to support overall well-being and address specific needs.
